Orange Shirt Collection
*******************Please Note, these are PRE-ORDERS*************************************
As we continue to work in solidarity with Anishnawbe Health Toronto to increase literacy in Toronto on the impact of white supremacy and colonization in Canada and the legacy of the genocide of Indigenous People in this country, we bring you our Orange Shirt Collection with designs from previous years.
Because of the recent findings of the 215 children’s bodies at the Kamloops Residential School, we make the message clearer than ever: Truth, Accountability then Reconciliation.
Canada is finally having to come out of its denial of its violent and oppressive history, particularly that of residential schools and the attempts at the ethnic cleansing of Indigenous Peoples.
We are only now at the stage of acknowledging Truth.
We hope Accountability will come and we dream of Reconciliation.
As always, part proceeds to Anishnawbe Health Toronto to support the building of a Sacred Holistic Indigenous Community Hub in Toronto.
The artwork is by our Sister-friend Kindhearted Woman, Ojibway Artist with roots in Dokis First Nation.
*******ORANGE T-SHIRT DAY******
Orange T-Shirt Day is an annual day of commemoration to honour the lives of people who did and didn’t survive the legacy of residential schools. Orange Shirt Day was started by Phyllis Webstad a residential school survivor and the owner of the “original” orange shirt.
First Nations, local governments, schools and communities come together to mark the lives of First Nations people who were forced to endure that horror. The date was chosen because it is the time of year in which children were taken from their homes to residential schools.
T-shirts cost $25.00 with proceeds going to Anishnawbe Health Toronto (aht.cca)
